Industrial grade sodium bicarbonate (IUPAC name: sodium bicarbonate), commonly known as baking soda or sodium bicarbonate, is a compound with the chemical formula NaHCO3. It is a salt composed of sodium cations (Na+) and bicarbonate anions (HCO3-). Sodium bicarbonate is a white solid, crystalline, but usually in the form of a fine powder. It has a slightly salty taste.
