Sodium Formate

Molecular Formula: HCOONa

CAS No.: 141-53-7

Uses:

Leather Tanning: Sodium formate reacts chemically with proteins in leather to form a stable cross-linked structure, making the leather soft, tough, and resistant to decay.

It is widely used in the production of leather goods such as shoes, handbags, and furniture.

Paper Bleaching: The hydrogen ions in sodium formate have oxidizing properties, capable of oxidizing organic pigments into colorless substances, improving paper quality

and brightness. It is an important bleaching agent in the papermaking industry.

Dye Synthesis: As an important intermediate in the synthesis of certain dyes, sodium formate participates in complex chemical reactions to produce dyes of different colors,

and is widely used in the textile printing and dyeing industry.

Chemical Raw Material: Sodium formate is an important raw material for the production of organic chemical products such as sodium hydrosulfite, oxalic acid, and formic acid.

It is also used in the production of dimethylformamide, etc.
