Properties:

Industrial grade aluminum sulfate is grayish-white in flake, granular, or block form. It is highly soluble in water, does not easily effloresce and lose its water of crystallization, 

and is relatively stable. It loses water upon heating and decomposes into aluminum oxide and sulfur oxides at high temperatures.

Uses:

1. Used as a coagulant in wastewater treatment, it has excellent decolorizing ability and also removes heavy metal ions, degreases, removes phosphorus, and sterilizes.

2. Used as a paper sizing agent in the paper industry to enhance the paper's water resistance and impermeability.

3. Aluminum sulfate is readily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. It is widely used for the purification of drinking water and industrial water. It is 

suitable for treating wastewater with low alkalinity.

4. In the fire protection industry, it is used with baking soda and foaming agents to form foam fire extinguishing agents.
